Secretary / Board Member

Job Description

FACTS, is a leading community nonprofit organization working to provide families with coaching and counseling in the areas of mental wellness, physical wellness, and financial literacy. We are seeking a Secretary Board Member with experience in the areas of community service and who exhibits a passion for unifying the family.

FACTS board of directors is a volunteer board.  Members are not paid and dedicate their time and expertise to support FACTS and its mission. This is a REMOTE position!!

 

Experience:

  • Understanding and knowledge of the work of non-profit organizations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to interact with a diverse set of individuals from various business and backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Computer literacy skills.

 

As a member of FACTS board, you will do crucial work:

  • Ensuring that accurate and sufficient documentation exists to meet legal requirements.
  • Timely distribution of materials such as agendas and meeting minutes
  • Reviewing, updating documents, and ensuring all documents are safely stored and readily accessible.
  • Ensures all rules and bylaws of the organization are adhered to by the board during meetings.
  • An active conduit for communication between the board & management.
  • Provide guidance and support that promote the organization’s mission of family wellness and literacy objectives.
  • Support the president in setting strategy, ensuring progress, and advancing the mission and vision of the organization.
  • Ensure productive, inclusive, and equitable governance by reviewing our programs, overseeing risk management, advising senior team members, and reviewing and approving budgets.
  • Serve as an advocate of our mission.

 

We Are Looking For Mission-aligned Professionals: 

A proven leader with high emotional intelligence, strong collaboration skills, solid strategic planning experience, a demonstrated commitment, and expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Advocacy
  • Community building for historically marginalized communities
  • Corporate strategy
  • Finance
  • Fundraising
  • Nonprofit management

 

In Serving, You Are Willing To Do The Following: 

  • Commit to a two-year term and active participation on the board or 3 years marketing background.
  • Attend Four Board meetings each year (virtual attendance is supported).
  • Board members are expected to actively participate in committee work.
  • Board members are expected to leverage personal relationships and connections to help FACTS identify and solicit potential funders.
